As an industry, we love and cherish a good disaster – projects running late, going over budget or off the rails are the topics of many coffee catchups. So it’s refreshing to be able to reflect on a successful project I’ve been involved with that has achieved real success in the twelve months since its launch.
The new Bendigo Bank Broker platform, which many of the Lonsdale Solutions team have been working on, was launched in November 2023 and has since been rolled out to 16,000 brokers nationwide, who can now offer Bendigo branded loans to their customers. The median credit decision time of under six minutes is one of the fastest in Australia.
Success has meant improved customer experience, increased internal digital capability, and reduced risk and complexity.
What made the difference? Many things – but the two that stand out are the people and the leadership.
Since the launch, many people have remarked on the success of the project. And each comment has been justified – every member of the team that helped to deliver the project should feel proud of the role they played. In this case, success truly does have many parents.
However, those people were only there because of the clear vision set by those who initiated the project many years ago. The leaders who set that vision, maintained focus, and coached and inspired the team deserve much of the credit.
Transformation is difficult. It takes a long time. And it requires a talented and motivated team with strong leadership. When we get together for anniversary celebrations in years to come, it’ll be the people that I’ll remember as the key to success. Everyone played their part, and played it well.
I am proud and thankful that I, and the rest of the Lonsdale Solutions team working as part of the project, had the opportunity to contribute to a successful project. Seeing it exceed expectations has been truly rewarding.
